A recent article and these Patent office drawings reveals that a patent filled by Apple was recently approved for a new Chat Application for the iPhone. It looks almost exactly like the SMS app currently on the iPhone and hopefully will have the same friendly user experience. But the article also suggests that it may handle MMS
